This last Saturday my friend Brandon and I decided to hike Deseret Peak, the highest peak in Tooele County at 11,031 feet. The elevation gain is 3600 feet. Brandon is in better shape than me so we went up and down pretty quick. It was absolutely amazing. I had never heard of the Stansbury Range before. It is just west of Grantsville which is west of Tooele which is west of Salt Lake.
I have not been this sore in a long time; Sunday was brutal. It was so steep it was like do a stairmaster workout for 6 hours. The map said 6 miles but it seemed more like 8. The top was very cold and windy but the view was amazing. On a good day you can see the Wellsvilles to the north and Mt. Nebo to the south.
If you look closely at the picture of me and Brandon you can see how cold we were. We were the only ones on the top with shorts on.
