Have we not reason to rejoice?

Anna and I were asked to speak in church this Sunday (Jan. 27th). The topic of course is "Have we not reason to rejoice?", which was a talk by Elder Uchtdorf at the last General Conference of the church.

Let me quote a paragraph that summarizes his talk "My dear brothers and sisters, there will be days and nights when you feel overwhelmed, when your hearts are heavy and your heads hang down. Then, please remember, Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, is the Head of this Church. It is His gospel. He wants you to suceed. He gave His life for just this purpose. He is the Son of the living God."

What makes this so ironic is that I have known for the past three weeks that my division was going to get cut from Trophy Homes. This finally happened on Jan. 25th and now 2 days later Anna and I are speaking in church on rejoicing even in hard times.

So for the past week I have been studying this topic and the scriptures to prepare for this talk but because the message is so applicable to me right now it has really been a blessing. It is amazing how the Lord is aware of our needs and through little experiences like speaking in church we see that he is aware of us and what is going on in our lives.
